Cupola Refurbishment

As part of our on-going relationship with the Duke of Devonshire’s Estate, we were appointed to carry out the repair and renovation of the three main Cupolas, sitting above the principle and secondary staircase. It became immediately obvious that years of exposure to the weather had caused significant deterioration so a plan was devised to protect the building whilst the cupolas were restored.

Temporary scaffold access and weathering was erected along with a full scaffold tower through the centre of the staircase. The refurbishment involved repair of some elements, complete replacement of others, new lead roof to the Cupola, roofing works to re-direct the flow of water across the main roof and finally decorations to fully reinstate the beauty of these historic features.
